You win if your team hits the Team Step Goal, which is the sum of the team members' Personal Step Goals. Yes, if you get extra steps above your individual goal, you can make up for team members who don’t pull their weight. For example, suppose Sally, Joe and Brooke are on a team. If Sally's Personal Step Goal is 600,000 steps, Joe's Personal Step Goal is 500,000 steps, and Brooke's Personal Step Goal is 400,000 steps, then the Team Step Goal is 1,500,000 steps. If Sally ends up getting 580,000 (missing her goal) and Joe ends up getting 470,000 steps (missing his goal), the team can still win if Brooke gets 450,000 steps (hitting her goal plus an extra 50,000 steps to make up for Sally's and Joe's shortcomings): 580,000 + 470,000 + 450,000 = 1,500,000. If the team wins, everyone on the team wins the prize (not just the members who hit the goal).
Green if the Daily Steps Needed is not more than 5% higher than Initial Daily Goal.
Yellow if the Daily Steps Needed is 5% to 20% higher than the Initial Daily Goal.
Red if the Daily Steps Needed is more than 20% higher than the Initial Daily Goal.
Overall Step Goal: For each participant: the Overall Step Goal is the product of Initial Daily Goal multiplied by the number of days in the challenge. For example, if your Initial Daily Goal is 8,000 steps, and the challenge is 30 days in length, then your Personal Step Goal is 240,000 steps.
For each team: the Overall Step Goal is the sum of the Personal Step Goals of all the members of the team.
Initial Daily Goal: determined when you join the challenge.
Current Daily Goal / Daily Steps Needed: the quotient of steps needed (as of today) divided by the number of days remaining in the challenge. For example, suppose there are 20 days left in the challenge, your Personal Step Goal is 1,000,000, and you have taken 900,000 steps so far (100,000 left to go). Your Daily Steps Needed is 5,000 (100,000 / 20).
