Terms, Conditions and Rules

All participants must agree to the below contest rules, terms and conditions in order to register and participate.  These rules apply to all co-branded HealthyWage\GECC contests. By registering for this contest participating GE Capital employees recognize and agree that they must adhere to these rules, terms and conditions as well as GE’s The Spirit & The Letter policies.


Participants must be an active GE employee in good standing must have completed the Lose Weight, Win Big Challenge ending July 7, 2014 and have had a final verified weigh-in confirming a minimum of 5% weight loss and completed the 6-month Persistence Pays Off challenge ending January 9, 2015.  If a participant leaves a GECC business or GE (“the company”) before winners are validated, they forfeit all rights to any award.  If a participant leaves a GECC business or the company between the time winners are announced and awards are distributed, the winning participant must notify HealthyWage or the HQ HA Leader, Paige Niccoll at as soon as possible.  Whether and how any such awards will be distributed will be determined by the company at its sole discretion.  By registering for this challenge participating GE Capital employees recognize and agree that they must adhere to these rules, terms and conditions as well as GE’s The Spirit & The Letter policies.

Unofficial weigh-in once a month / Avoid strikes

Step on your own scale once a month and enter your weight on the HealthyWage website (these weigh-ins do not need to be verified). It's important for everyone to keep up with weigh-ins. Anyone who misses a monthly weigh-in will incur a strike. Participants who report a weight of 4% above starting weight during the course of the challenge will receive a strike for each instance. Three cumulative strikes in duration of the challenge will result in disqualification from the challenge. The same three strike rules remain for the additional 6 months.  Three new additional strikes are not part of the challenge.  Three strikes for the entire 12 months.

Awards and payments

Awards will be issued as non-cash via the Above & Beyond tool. Non-cash awarded are gift certificates or vouchers of the participants' choice through our Above & Beyond vendor. All awards are considered taxable income to the recipient and will be grossed up for tax purposes.  If you have specific questions, please consult your local HR Manager. Award notification will be via email. In case of a dispute as to the identity of an entrant, the authorized account holder of the SSO ID used to register at the time of initial registration will be considered a the entrant.

Entrants are eligible to win a minimum of $100.00 non-cash Above and Beyond award at the end of the challenge. Two entrants will be eligible to win an additional raffle amount of $1,000.00. Once winners are drawn and announced, a designated GE Capital HQ representative will submit Above and Beyond nominations in the appropriate awarded denomination within 2 weeks of the announcement. The local Above and Beyond budgets are not impacted. Final receipt of the Above and Beyond award is subject to manager's approval. By participating in Persistence Pays Off 2.0 for an additional 6 months, entrants agree that they forfeit the $50.00 non-cash Above and Beyond award and become eligible for the $100.00 non-cash Above and Beyond award at the end of the challenge.

Verification can occur anytime from July 6, 2015 to July 10, 2015. Final verification is the only weigh-in used to determine if you are a winner of an Above and Beyond award.

By its nature, this program is not anonymous. 

The information gathered for this program will not become part of the employee file and will not be shared with managers, Human Resource representatives, et al.

By participating, GE Employees give GE and HealthyWage their consent to access & process the personal information entered during the registration process as it is needed to validate and announce winners.  GE Capital and HealthyWage reserve the right to publish photos and personal stories from participants, including dependents. These may be used to share the success and experience of the program with others, including internally with GE Capital and externally with other organizations. Internal marketing may include the GE intranet, digital screens and the HealthAhead newsletter, among other channels. 

Release and other general rules

GE Capital and its subsidiaries and affiliates, as well as those entities’ shareholders, employees, directors, officers, representatives, agents, successors, and assigns (collectively, the “Released Parties”) are not responsible for any error, omission, interruption, defect or delay in transmission, transaction processing, or communication; technical or mechanical malfunctions; errors in these official rules, in any promotion-related advertisements or other materials; human-processing error; failures of electronic equipment or computer hardware or software; or inaccurate information, whether caused by equipment, programming used in this Promotion, human error or otherwise. The Released Parties shall have no liability and will be held harmless for any liability, loss, injury or death to entrant or any other person, including, without limitation, damage to personal or real property, due in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, by reason of the acceptance or possession of a prize (including any prize activity related thereto) or participation in this event.


Except where prohibited by law, by entering the Event, entrant agrees that any and all claims, judgments and awards shall be limited to actual out-of-pocket costs incurred, including costs associated with entering this Event but in no event attorneys' and/or experts’ fees and further, entrant waives all rights to claim punitive, incidental and consequential damages, attorneys’ fees and any and all rights to have damages multiplied or otherwise increased or any damages other than actual out-of-pocket costs or losses that may arise in connection with participation in this Event or acceptance, possession and/or use of the prize.

Each winner acknowledges that no other party nor any agent or attorney of any other party has made any promise, representation or warranty whatsoever, express or implied, not contained herein concerning the subject matter hereof, to induce the winner to execute any document and winners acknowledge that they have not executed any document in reliance on any such promise, representation or warranty not contained herein. Any waiver by the Sponsor and its affiliates of any term of any document in a particular instance shall not be a waiver of such term for the future. Each winner agrees that the invalidity or enforceability of any part of any document shall in no way affect the validity or enforceability of any of the remainder of that document.

Publicity Rights

Participants agree to allow HealthyWage and GE Capital, and/or their designees, the perpetual right to use his/her name, personal information, photos, videos and/or likeness, and statements for the following purposes: (i) to identify you publicly as a winner; (ii) for purposes of operating the Event as described in these Rules and/or to confirm compliance with the entry requirements; (iii) for any other promotional, communications or publicity needs, including but not limited to posting on GE Capital and/or GE corporate intranets, websites, digital screens and newsletters and externally with other organizations, all without notice, review or approval except where required by law, and without additional compensation except where prohibited by law.

Option One:  Video Verification

We recommend video verification for everyone.  Simply use your smart phone or camera to make a short private video of you weighing in, and the upload it on our website.

Option 2:  Verification by a Fitness or Health Professional or Weight Watchers

Verifications deadlines are met as soon as your verification is witnessed.  It is okay if HealthyWage doesn't get the data right away—you have 72 hours (or more, in our discretion) to make sure we have the data.

By a Fitness or Health Professional

Print your VerifyMe! form from the "Get verified" link under the green button on your dashboard.

Get weighed-in by any wellness, health, pharmacy, or medical professional.  All they have to do is fill out and sign the form, and then you will scan or snap a photo of the form with your phone and upload it to our website. Or the verifier can enter it on the website.

Almost any fitness or health professional will be happy to spend the few minutes to help you.  Just in case you have trouble, our verifications department maintains weigh-in partnerships with thousands of health clubs, but remember:  you do not need to use one of our clubs.

With an In-Body machine

A HealthAhead member who is not on your team can verify you using an In-Body machine.

At a Weight Watchers Meeting

Meeting members only!  You do not need to use our VerifyMe! form.  Just upload a photo of your Weight Watchers weigh-in print-out or official stamp in your book after your normal weigh-in.  Keep in mind that HealthyWage loves Weight Watchers; we have Weight Watchers lifetime members on our staff; and many Weight Watchers franchisees and employees love HealthyWage; however, HealthyWage is not endorsed by Weight Watchers, which is a registered trademark of Weight Watchers International.  Please do not ask for a special weigh-in for your HealthyWage challenge (just do it as part of your normal Weight Watchers weigh-in) or do anything else that would cause Weight Watchers to bear a cost on behalf of HealthyWage.

Make Sure Your Verification Is Accurate & Honest

Make your best effort to ensure that your verified weigh-in has been measured and reported truthfully and accurately.

Additional Proof

As part of our verified weight audits, we occasionally request that some (very few) participants get a second, confirming weigh-in by a HealthyWage-selected person or method, which we arrange at our expense. You must cooperate with HealthyWage winners department crew members if they request an additional verification or any other assistance in verifying the truth and accuracy of your weight loss.  Differences of more than a few pounds between a participant's verified weight as reported by a verifier selected by the participant, on the one hand, and the same participant's verified weight as reported by a verifier selected by HealthyWage, on the other hand, may result in disqualification.

You should also keep on hand a set of full-body before-and-after photos, and make sure your teammates do the same.  You do not need to submit the photo(s) to HealthyWage unless we request them.

Be Responsible for Your Verification

Your verification may not be valid if HealthyWage does not receive the verified measurements within 72 hours after they are taken, or if HealthyWage is not able to locate your verifier or confirm your verification with your verifier, or if your verifier indicates that he/she did not personally take your weight and height measurements, or if your verifier refuses, upon HealthyWage's request, to provide a sworn statement about the verifications, or other request made by HealthyWage.

General Rules

These rules apply to all our challenges. GE Capital employees must adhere to The Spirit & The Letter.

You Can Participate in Multiple Challenges

Go for it! You can do all of our challenges at the same time – you just can’t be in the same type of challenge at the same time – i.e., it’s okay to join a Team Challenge and a HealthyWager at once, but not two Team Challenges at once.

Don't Cheat or Commit Fraud

We use proprietary algorithms, weigh-in reviews and, if necessary, outside investigators and law enforcement to catch cheaters.  The consequences are not worth the benefit. The rule also applies to folks who are dishonest with the HealthyWage crew or a verifier or anyone else in connection with your challenge.

Don't Use Unhealthy Tricks to “Game” the Challenge

Doing unhealthy things in order to “game” the challenge is prohibited, including, but not limited to, deliberate weight gain (before, during, or after a HealthyWage challenge), starvation (defined as eating fewer calories each day than your doctor recommends), excessive exercise (defined as exercise that exceeds your doctor’s recommended amount of exercise, in terms of type, frequency and duration), water deprivation, unusual water consumption, self-induced vomiting, diuretics, laxatives, or any weight loss or weight gain plan that your doctor does or would advise against, or that, in HealthyWage’s sole and exclusive discretion, would be considered unhealthy or unfair by an ordinary person.

Don't Harass Other Players…or Anyone Else

Be nice, please!  Harassment of any kind, whether of your own teammates or other teams or non-participants is prohibited. You are encouraged to support your teammates, but you covenant and agree that unwelcome emotion, physical, or other abuse is absolutely forbidden. Harassment shall also include any words or actions that, in HealthyWage’s sole and exclusive discretion, would be likely to cause any of your teammates, or any other person, to feel pressured to do any of the unhealthy things defined above. 

Gaming the Verified Weigh-ins Not Allowed

When the rule applies:

This rule rarely applies.  It applies only when you are finishing a team challenge or HealthyWager and lost more than 2% per week since your last verification.

What it says:

You can't end a challenge with a weight that is less than 2% per week (rounding up) less than your last HealthyWage verification.  If you do, your ending verified weight will be adjusted upward so that it is no lower than 2% per month lower than your last HealthyWage verification.  


Bob starts a HealthyWager at 201 pounds on May 1.  On May 5, he finishes the team challenge he started earlier in the year, and his ending weight is 178 pounds.  That's a violation of the rule because Bob would be claiming to have lost way more than 2% of his weight in less than a week.  2% of 201 is 5 pounds (we always round up), so Bob's May 5 weight can't be any lower than 195 pounds.  HealthyWage will adjust his team challenge ending weight up to 195.
